Accidents and incidents
On 19 November 2009, Flight 3711, operated by McDonnell Douglas MD-82 9Q-CAB overran the runway on landing at Goma International Airport, suffering substantial damage. The overrun area was contaminated by solidified lava.[5] On 2 January 2010, Boeing 727-231F 9Q-CAA was substantially damaged when it departed the side of the runway at N'djili Airport, Kinshasha.[6] The aircraft was subsequently declared a write-off.[7] However, C.A.A. remains the only Congolese airline to have never suffered a fatality in a crash, a fact the airline (and its passengers) prides itself on.
